Cheadle to Direct and Star in Miles Davis Movie
By Andrea M. White

Oscar nominated actor, Don Cheadle is set to direct and star in the story of the legendary jazz icon, Miles Davis. An idea that has held his devotion for almost a decade, Cheadle has been trying to get the wheels turning on Davis’s biography for some time, but due to complicated issues related to music rights, the Hotel Rwanda star could not bring the life of the jazz great to the big screen.

Sony BMG had Cheadle’s hands tied with legal loopholes which hindered the star from developing his idea. With the help of some heavy-hitters in the film industry, including producer, Cary Brokaw, Cheadle was able break through the red-tape and start preparing this new film, which is scheduled to be released next year. Brokaw, who was instrumental in getting the red-tape cleared for this film, has won 2 Emmy’s including an Emmy for the HBO mini-series, Angels in America.

The story of Miles Davis is sure to be both sad and intriguing. Davis could be a milestone and a madman simultaneously. This genius was able wow the industry with his innovative music vision and fusion, and at the same time be confrontational and brash due to his natural facade combined with recreational drug use. The story of Miles Davis is sure to keep audiences captivated, along with the Cheadle who is destined to make this his most stellar performance.
